Background

K-Konsult was first formed as a Jersey BCI company in 1985. It was established at that time to provide consultancy services to a Kuwaiti investment company where K-Konsult founder, Keith Payne, served as a senior advisor to the investment committee.

A sample of its services at that time, was the negotiation and arrangement of specific investment in such entities as ESPART, the property arm of the Espirito Santo Banking Group, the establishment of the Kuwait Portugal Fund, a Jersey BCI closed-end fund for Kuwaiti property investment into Portugal and a joint venture with the Portuguese industrial group Sonae to form the investment bank EFISA.

Through United Investments (Jersey) Ltd, a joint venture between a Kuwaiti Jersey based family settlement and the Payne Jersey family settlement, K-Konsult Ltd provided the management and direction services to various hotel resort and real estate developments; these include the Morgado do Reguengo Golf Club at Portimao (www.morgadogolfhotel.com) and the Sheraton at Pine Cliffs Golf and Country Club at Albufeira, Algarve (www.sheratonalgarve.com).

The spread of EU legislation through member countries in 1990's led to increasing awareness and compliance both on environmental aspects in any project development, its sustainability and transparency in respect of investment. K-Konsult adapted to these changes by forming framework agreements with institutions whose appropriate departments could fulfill project needs for independent environmental impact assessments according to EU regulations. One example of this was the use of the Earth Sciences Department, Coimbra University for the Quinta da Arrabida hotel resort and golf project environmental impact assessment, a highly environmentally sensitive project adjoining a national water reservoir. Again adapting to a EU environment, K-Konsult company registration was moved from Jersey, BCI to UK.

A pattern of business has steadily built up by providing investment entities, be they private or corporate with new or existing market research, investment project identification and feasibility, management services with board of director representation and delivery of the executed project in diverse sectors ranging from leisure resort and property development to renewable energy generation together the cross-over between the two to meet the requirements for conservation and sustainability in the 21st century.
